So, if you know me, you know that I have a killer sweet tooth. Cake and cookies are nice, but I really delight in candy- chocolates, anything gummy (especially sour grapefruit and gummy bears!), lollipops and gum… It also doesn’t help that I have an almost-5-year-old who shares my obsession :D A few months ago a friend of mine told me about It’Sugar. They’d just opened at Scottsdale Quarter and after a healthy lunch at True Food (it’s all about balance, right?), we wandered over to see what the fuss was about.

So, this place is like Willy Wonka on acid. As soon as I walked in, I felt like I was in a wonderland full of every sugary delight I could think of, and then some. If you’re like me and you’re into gummy candy you’ll be thrilled at the variety from gummy bears to peaches and even gummy sharks! Self serve bins in the center of the store contain scotty dog and rope licorice, peanut butter cops, and vintage style candies like Mary Janes. Looking for a blast from your childhood past? You’ll find candy necklaces and wee little jaw breakers up to those the size of racquetballs (how do you even eat one of those things?!).

I always enjoy poking around the retail section along the back and side of the store as well (note of caution, not all tee shirts, magnets and other retail goods are kid friendly for those old enough to read). If you have a wicked sense of humor, It’Sugar certainly didn’t forget about its adult customer with products like “Shut Up Beyotch” gum and magnets proclaiming one line gems such as “Happiness is nothing more than good health and bad memory” and “I like my men like I like my coffee- ground up and in the freezer”… I like it…

It’Sugar is definitely worth the drive if you’re looking for a great dinner in Scottsdale Quarter, a stroll in the park-like Quad followed by a sugar rush. Check it out and tell them I sent you ;)
