Heather and I were lucky enough to get to tag along with the Light Rail Blogger himself, Tony Arranaga, to see firsthand all the things he loves about living along the light rail, and how he survives a hot summer day by foot, rail and by bike!

On a recent Friday morning, we started off at Royal at the Market where we got to try a bacon brownie. YES a bacon brownie- sounds totally weird and I was skeptical but I have to say it was a delicious, if unique, treat! Later we stopped by Giant Coffee for key lime coffee cake, found a few treasures at the adorable Bunky Boutique next door (including my super cute new hand tooled leather “lucky” hair clip!) and learned some interesting facts from Tony- did you know that the CVS on Central had to be designed to resemble the architecture and materials of the existing Phoenix Art Museum next door? What a wealth of information he is! Finally we wound down at Lux Coffeebar and Pane Bianco for a tasty lunch before heading to Civic Space Park.

Check it out- hopefully if you haven’t been to the light rail our little trip will show you how easy it is to hop on and discover all the gems we have in downtown Phoenix. Excited for more? Join us as we broadcast live from the Light Rail Dine Around, a progressive dinner at 3 restaurants along the Light Rail starting at Hanny’s on July 29th at 5:30pm. Tickets are $60 and include your 3 course gourmet meal. Details and tickets are available on the Foodies Like Us site.
